The Zambia 7s participated in the International Dubai Sevens in December 2017, which is one of Dubai’s top social and sporting events, and were grouped with Dubai based teams in Pool A .

On the first day, Friday December 1, Zambia 7s played Speranza 22 (15:20 hours) and lost 7-40, Free Sevens (18:46 hours) won by 29 to 12 and lost to The Royals (21:00 hours) 7-14. On Saturday, December 2, 2017, Zambia 7s played Georgia and lost 21-24 (12:00 hours), won Monaco Impis 40-14 (14:00 hours ) and and lost 7-17 to Canada Maple.

The Zambia 7s team that played on both days comprised of Israel Kalumba, Edmond Hamayuwa, David Chimbukulu, Laston Mukosa, Carlos Kanyama, Melvin Banda, Kasitu Kapelele, Sheleni Michelo, Larry Kaushiku, Trevor Squire, Jeremy Badcock, Nigel Chibwe, Fernad Kashimoto, Charles Male, Chris Ntambo.

The 48th edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens was huge success. Over 100,000 fans walked through the gates during the three-day event and enjoyed 28 international teams in action, 294 rugby and netball teams battling it out in the Invitation Tournament, entertainment all day long, rocking tunes at the Rugby Rock gigs making the Dubai Sevens the sporting and social event of the year once more.
